HEMA is synthesized from methacrylic acid and ethylene oxide using a catalyst. This widely used organic compound is primarily applied in producing active hydroxyacrylic resins, synthetic resins (epoxy, diisocyanate, melamine formaldehyde), and two-component coatings. It also serves as a lubricant additive in oil industry applications.
